"Vetta Chamber concert - one of the 5 best classical music concerts in Vancouver in 2007. [Joan Blackman] shapelier phrases and sweeter tone would be hard to imagine. David Harding’s viola rang with rich tone
and operatic bravura."
By Lloyd Dykk of The Vancouver Sun.
Joan Blackman and Eugene Osadchy

Welcome to the 23rd Season of the Vetta Chamber Music and Recital Society.

As Artistic Director, I feel honoured and privileged to be able to bring great music and musicians straight from my heart to yours. This year Vetta has gone for broke with a veritable smorgasbord of topnotch guest artists! Of course, Eugene Osadchy, Artistic Advisor, will be back to woo the audience with his dulcet tones, as well the familiar faces of Linda Lee Thomas, Lorna McGhee, François Houle, David Harding, Yariv Aloni and Zoltan Rozsnyai. Jennie Press, violinist with the VSO, will make her Vetta debut this season, as will Katinka Kleijn, a cellist friend of mine from Chicago. I am also pleased to introduce Kenneth Broadway, pianist, to our discriminating audience. For our spring program (It’s a surprise!), we have an extra special guest, author Bill Richardson. For our final concert, we have a double homecoming of local talent; concertmaster of Winnipeg Symphony Gwen Hoebig, and live from New York, Ian Parker! I hope you will also enjoy the repertoire, which includes many of my favourites such as Brahms’ Trio Opus 8, the boisterous Dvorák Piano Quintet, and the Kodály Duo. With such an exciting line-up of guest artists, and such amazing music to play, I can hardly wait for the season to begin.
Cheers to Music!
Joan Blackman
